2017考研英語必備高頻詞根分類

　　基于考研英語的大綱詞匯及高頻詞匯，為了提高各位同學(xué)的英語詞匯記憶效率，請同學(xué)們率先從以下詞根串聯(lián)起的必考詞匯入手學(xué)習(xí)，從而使自己的詞匯學(xué)習(xí)由多變少，由生變熟，由難變易，使學(xué)習(xí)英語單詞成為一種樂趣、一種富有成就感的事情。

　　詞根：spec, spi(c), scop = to look(看), to observe(觀察)

　　1. respect

　　助記：re(回頭，反復(fù))+ spec(看)→回頭看，反復(fù)看→重視，尊敬

　　釋義：vt.尊重;尊敬;關(guān)心;遵守;n.尊重，恭敬

　　舉例：

　　(1) I respect his judgment and I'll follow any advice he gives m.

　　我尊重他的判斷能力，會接受他提出的任何建議。

　　(2) His voice was warm with friendship and respect.

　　他的聲音里充滿了友善和敬意。

　　2. expect

　　助記：ex(向外)+ spec(看)→向外看，向遠(yuǎn)處看→盼望，預(yù)期

　　釋義：v. 期望;預(yù)料;要求

　　舉例：

　　(1) Don't expect me to come and visit you there.

　　別指望我會去那兒看你。

　　(2) How can you expect me to believe your promises?

　　你怎能指望我相信你的承諾?

　　3. conspicuous

　　助記：con(加強(qiáng))+ spic(看，觀察)+ous(形容詞后綴)→大家都看，非常惹眼→惹人注目的

　　釋義：adj. 明顯的，惹人注意的

　　舉例：

　　It is conspicuous that smoking is harmful to health.

　　很明顯，抽煙對健康有害。

　　4. despise

　　助記：de(向下)+ spise(看)→向下看，看扁了→鄙視

　　釋義：v. 鄙視，蔑視

　　舉例：

　　Don't cheat at examination, or your classmates will despise you.

　　考試不要作弊, 否則同班同學(xué)會輕視你的。

　　5. telescope

　　助記：tele(遠(yuǎn)的)+ scope(能看到的范圍)→能使人看到遠(yuǎn)處的物體→望遠(yuǎn)鏡

　　釋義：n. 望遠(yuǎn)鏡

　　舉例：

　　Like a telescope, it has a curved mirror to collect the sunlight.

　　和望遠(yuǎn)鏡一樣，它有一個曲面鏡可以積聚陽光。

　　詞根：spir = to breath 呼吸

　　1. aspire

　　助記：a(加強(qiáng))+ spire(呼吸)→呼吸急切，非常想要→渴望

　　釋義：v. 渴望，立志，追求

　　舉例：

　　For us, it's something that we may aspire to but can never attain.

　　對我們來說, 那是可望而不可及的。

　　2. expire

　　助記：ex(出來)+ spire(呼吸)→呼出最后一口氣→逝世，失效

　　釋義：vi.期滿;文件、協(xié)議等(因到期而)失效;斷氣;逝世

　　舉例：

　　His term of office as president will expire next year.

　　他的總統(tǒng)任期明年將屆滿。

　　3. inspire

　　助記：in(進(jìn)入)+ spire(呼吸)→呼吸進(jìn)入，注入精神→鼓舞

　　釋義：v.鼓舞;激勵;啟迪

　　舉例：

　　Our challenge is to motivate those voters and inspire them to join our cause.

　　我們面臨的挑戰(zhàn)是如何調(diào)動那些選民的積極性并鼓勵他們加入我們的事業(yè)。

　　4. conspiracy

　　助記：con(一起)+ spire(呼吸)+acy(名詞后綴)→同呼吸共命運→共謀

　　釋義：n. 陰謀;反叛;共謀

　　舉例：

　　He suspects there's a conspiracy to cover up the crime.

　　他懷疑有人密謀掩蓋犯罪事實。

　　詞根：tain,ten= to hold, to keep 抓住，保持

　　1. contain

　　助記：con(一起)+tain (抓住)→抓在一起→容納，包含

　　釋義：vt.包含，容納

　　舉例：

　　Our range of herbal teas contain no preservatives, colourings or artificial flavourings.

　　我們這一系列的藥草茶不含防腐劑、色素以及人工調(diào)味品。

　　2. detain

　　助記：de(向下)+ tain(抓住)→把某人扣下→拘留，阻留

　　釋義：v.留住，阻住;耽擱;拘留，扣留

　　舉例：

　　The act allows police to detain a suspect for up to 48 hours.

　　該法令允許警方將嫌疑犯扣押最多48小時。

　　3. maintain

　　助記：main(=mani=hand，用手)+ tain(抓住，保持)→用手抓住→保持住，維持

　　釋義：vt.保持;保養(yǎng);堅持

　　舉例：

　　In New Zealand, the Maori people maintain a strong cultural tradition.

　　在新西蘭，毛利人保持著深厚的文化傳統(tǒng)。

　　4. entertain

　　助記：enter(=inter在……中間)+ tain(保持)→在大家之間保持愉快的氣氛→招待，使快樂

　　釋義：vt. 熱情款待;使有興趣

　　舉例：

　　(1) She had to entertain some boring local bigwigs.

　　她不得不款待當(dāng)?shù)匾恍�無聊的大人物。

　　(2) The television programme is designed to educate and not merely to entertain.

　　這個電視節(jié)目不僅是為了娛樂而且是為了教育而設(shè)計的。

　　5. sustain

　　助記：sus(=sub=under在……下面)+ tain(抓住，保持)→從下面抓住→支撐，使保持

　　釋義：vt. 維持;支撐，支持

　　舉例：

　　Their defense markets are too small to sustain economically viable production runs.

　　他們的國防市場太小，就經(jīng)濟(jì)可行性而言不足以維持生產(chǎn)。

　　詞根：clos, clud = to shut 關(guān)閉

　　1. closet

　　助記：clos(關(guān)閉)+ et(小的…物)→封閉的小空間→小房間，壁櫥

　　釋義：n. 壁櫥;密室;貯藏室;adj.隱蔽的，暗藏的

　　舉例：

　　(1) It's just an old rag I had in the closet.

　　這只不過是我掛在壁櫥里的舊衣服罷了。

　　(2) I suspect he's a closet fascist.

　　我懷疑他是秘密的法西斯分子。

　　2. disclose

　　助記：dis(表示相反的動作)+ close(關(guān)閉)→打開→暴露，揭露

　　釋義：vt. 公開;揭露;使顯露;使暴露

　　舉例：

　　The spokesman refused to disclose details of the takeover to the press.

　　發(fā)言人拒絕向新聞界透露公司收購的詳細(xì)情況。

　　3. enclose

　　助記：en(=in在內(nèi))+ close(關(guān)閉)→關(guān)在里面→圍起來

　　釋義：vt.(用墻、籬笆等)把…圍起來;把…裝入信封;附入

　　舉例：

　　Please enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope.

　　請隨信寄來一個貼好郵票的回信信封。

　　4. conclude

　　助記：con(加強(qiáng)語氣)+ clud(關(guān)閉)→結(jié)束，下結(jié)論

　　釋義：v. 得出結(jié)論;結(jié)束;推斷出

　　舉例：

　　(1) So what can we conclude from this debate?

　　那么從這場辯論中我們能得出什么結(jié)論?

　　(2) If the clubs cannot conclude a deal, an independent tribunal will decide.

　　如果俱樂部之間無法達(dá)成協(xié)議，將由一個獨立的仲裁委員會來裁定。

　　5. preclude

　　助記：pre(=before前，向前)+ clud(關(guān)閉)→在進(jìn)入前關(guān)閉→阻止，妨礙

　　釋義：vt. 阻止;排除;妨礙

　　舉例：

　　(1) We try to preclude any possibility of misunderstanding.

　　我們努力排除任何誤解的可能性。

　　(2) Their move does not preclude others from investing..

　　他們這一行動并不影響其他人進(jìn)行投資。

　　6. exclude

　　助記：ex(外面)+ clud(關(guān)閉)→將……關(guān)在外面→把……排除在外

　　釋義：vt. 排除，不包括;排斥;驅(qū)除，趕出

　　舉例：

　　(1) Further examination is needed to exclude the chance of disease.

　　需要進(jìn)一步檢查以排除患病的可能。

　　(2) The university had no right to exclude the student from the examination.

　　學(xué)校無權(quán)阻止這位學(xué)生參加考試。

　　詞根：strain, stress, strict=to draw tight拉緊

　　1. constrain

　　助記：con(表示加強(qiáng))+strain(拉緊)→使勁拉緊→強(qiáng)迫，迫使

　　釋義：vt. 強(qiáng)迫;強(qiáng)使;限制;約束

　　舉例：

　　Women are too often constrained by family commitments and by low expectations.

　　女性往往受到家庭責(zé)任和低期望值的束縛。

　　2. restrain

　　助記：re(=back往回)+ strain(拉緊)→往回用力拉→制止，抑制

　　釋義：vt. 抑制，壓抑;限定，限制

　　舉例：

　　If you can't restrain your dog you must lock it up.

　　如果你無法管住你的狗,就必須把它關(guān)起來。

　　3. distress

　　助記：dis(分離)+ stress(拉緊)→迫于壓力而分開→使痛苦

　　釋義：vt.使痛苦，使憂傷;n. 悲痛;危難，不幸

　　舉例：

　　(1)The idea of Toni being in danger distresses him enormously.

　　想到托尼正處于危險中，他心急如焚。

　　(2) Jealousy causes distress and painful emotions.

　　嫉妒會帶來憂慮和痛苦。

　　4. restrict

　　助記：re(再一次)+ strict(拉緊)→進(jìn)一步拉緊→限制，約束

　　釋義：vt. 限制，限定;約束，束縛

　　舉例：

　　The hospital may restrict bookings to people living locally.

　　這家醫(yī)院可能會限定只有當(dāng)?shù)鼐用癫拍茴A(yù)約。

　　詞根：rupt= to break 打破

　　1. abrupt

　　助記：ab(=off脫離)+rupt(打破)→突然折斷→突然的，唐突的

　　釋義：adj. 突然的，意外的; 無理的，唐突的

　　舉例：

　　(1) Cross was a little taken aback by her abrupt manner.

　　她魯莽的態(tài)度讓克羅斯感到有點吃驚。

　　(2) He was abrupt to the point of rudeness.

　　他唐突到了無禮的地步。

　　2. corrupt

　　助記：cor(=com完全)+ rupt(打破)完全斷裂的→墮落的，全腐壞的

　　釋義：adj. 腐敗的，墮落的;v. (使)腐爛;(使)墮落

　　舉例：

　　(1) The protesters say the government is corrupt and inefficient.

　　抗議者稱政府腐敗無能。

　　(2) Power tends to corrupt.

　　權(quán)力容易造成腐化。

　　3. disrupt

　　助記：dis(=apart分開)+ rupt(打破)→破裂開來→使……中斷

　　釋義：vt. 使混亂;使分裂;破壞;使中斷;adj. 混亂的;分裂的，中斷的

　　舉例：

　　(1) The war seemed likely to disrupt the state.

　　戰(zhàn)爭可能使這個國家分裂。

　　(2) I hope their disrupt friendship will be renewed.

　　我希望他們中斷的友誼會繼續(xù)起來。

　　4. erupt

　　助記：e(=out爆發(fā))+rupt(打破)→爆發(fā)，突然發(fā)生

　　釋義：v. 爆發(fā);噴出

　　舉例：

　　The volcano erupted in 1980, devastating a large area of Washington State.

　　這座火山1980年噴發(fā)，摧毀了華盛頓州的大片地區(qū)。

　　5. interrupt

　　助記：inter(在中間)+rupt(打破)→在中間斷開→打斷，打岔

　　釋義：vt. 中斷;打斷;插嘴;n. 中斷

　　舉例：

　　We interrupt our programs for a newsflash.

　　我們中斷節(jié)目，插播一條重要新聞。
