　　Business Etiquette Lesson 001 - Introduction on etiquette

　　Ann. 陳豪剛從大學畢業(yè)就在北京的一家美國公司找到了一份工作。今天他收到一張通知，可是里面有一個詞他不懂，他只知道讓他去參加一個什么訓練班。所以他就去請教公司里的美籍華人Mary .

　　(Office ambience)

　　C：Excuse me, Mary, 請問通知上這個詞是什么意思呀?E-t-i-q-u-e-t-t-e.

　　M：Oh, etiquette, 原來是法文，意思是禮節(jié)。

　　C: 噢，原來是要我去參加禮節(jié)訓練班。 Mary，這詞是怎么發(fā)音的?

　　M：E-ti-ket.Q-u是發(fā)k的音，而不是發(fā)q的音，e-ti-ket.

　　C：我們來公司工作，又不是來社交，為什么要講禮節(jié)呀?

　　M：Etiquette is very important to business.一個公司的雇員對客戶是不是很客氣，有禮貌，這對經(jīng)營有很大關系。

　　C：具體地說，這兒說的etiquette指些什么呢?

　　M：Etiquette is a set of rules that allow us to interact with others in a civilized manner.

　　C：以文明的方式對待別人的一些原則。

　　M：具體地說就是treating other people with courtesy and respect and making them feel comfortable with you.

　　C：嗯，(若有所思地) 對人要有禮貌，要尊敬別人，還要讓人覺得和你在一起很自如。

　　這沒問題，I'm always polite and courteous to others.

　　M：但是，訓練班講的是西方禮節(jié) - western etiquette，和中國的禮節(jié)還不完全一樣，因為兩國有文化差異。

　　C：這禮節(jié)還有文化差異?我得去訓練班聽聽再說。

　　C：嗨， Mary，我的訓練班結束了，你那天說的`文化差異一點也沒錯。

　　M：聽起來訓練班好像讓你開竅啦?

　　C是啊。我那天跟會計室的那金發(fā)女郎聊天，聊得很愉快。 結果我問她多大年紀了，她一下子就變得很不高興，支支吾吾沒有回答就走了。

　　M：Asking someone's age is offensive to an American.

　　C：參加了訓練班才知道不能問美國人年齡的。

　　M：你辦公室里的小王今天早上突然問年薪有多少。美國人認為打聽這種私人的事是不禮貌的。我想對有些中國人來說也是不禮貌的。

　　C：沒錯。

　　M：既然你訓練班已經(jīng)結束，我來考考你: Tell me what is etiquette?

　　C：我來試試。 Etiquette is a set of rules that allow us to interact with others in a civilized manner.

　　M：And treating other people with courtesy and respect and making them feel comfortable with you.

　　C: Mary，以后我有問題還會來請教你喲!

　　M：No problem.
